“Should I highlight this book?”, I asked my husband. He answered, “Why not?”

I have always been cautious in highlighting books. I don’t know why but I think I only do it when it comes to textbooks or training materials. Haha. Some people hate it. Others don’t. However, tonight I’m more convinced that whatever suits you so you can understand better what you’re reading, then go for it. Most of the time I don’t just read, but instead, I study (even if it’s not a textbook at all). Yes, I study how the writer chose certain words to make up a beautiful sentence. And things like that can speak so much to me.

My passion for reading books gradually changed over the years. I hate to admit it but I seem to have lost interest in it compared to how it was back in my younger years. Naalala ko nun, may award pa nga ako from the library eh. I always fill up my library card fast. Hahaha. I’m not sure if the rise of social media is the reason in my sudden lost of interest in the printed books, but I think it has a great influence.

I’d love to revive my desire to read again. Not only books per se but anything that someone took time to write. I want to read more so I can write more. I think reading creates certain emotions that are not usually available by experience, and I guess it’s not yet too late to fall in love again with it.

*** This is one of those short shotgun blog posts where I just write down all the random words in my head at the moment, hoping it will come out at least a bit organized. Maybe I’ll have more of this. Just maybe.
